FRISCO, Texas – Lamar’s Jordan Rowe and Stephen F. Austin’s Kelsey Ramirez are the Southland Conference Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.Rowe led the Cardinals to an eighth-place team finish at the Chile Pepper Festival over the weekend in Fayetteville, Ark. In his second race of the 2019 season, the senior stamped a career-best time of 24:01.5 in the 8k event, shaving more than two minutes off his previous best mark at the 2018 Southland Conference Championship. Rowe and the Cardinals will return to the course Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Bronco Invitational in Santa Clara, Calif.Ramirez led her Stephen F. Austin squad with an 11th-place individual finish at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational over the weekend in South Bend, Ind. The junior completed the 5k event with a time of 17:23.71 in a field of 193 runners. Ramirez will join the Ladyjacks back on the course Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Arturo Barrios Invite, hosted by Texas A&M in College Station.Men’s Athlete of the Week: Jordan Rowe, Lamar – Sr. – Frinton-on-Sea, UKRowe competed over the weekend at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., taking ninth-place individual honors and leading his Lamar squad to an eighth-place team finish.
